KIM D. SLOCUM
Kim D. Slocum is President of KDS Consulting, LLC, an affiliated partner of Healogix. Kim is a 35+ year veteran of health care and spent 32+ of those years working in a wide variety of commercially oriented roles for a number of pharmaceutical and biotechnology firms. Prior to his retirement from corporate life in 2006, Kim was Director of Strategic Planning and Business Development at AstraZeneca.
Kim is an expert in health policy and reimbursement issues and focuses much of his attention on the intersection of these factors with the biopharmaceutical industry. He has spent over fifteen years dealing with employers, government payers and health plans.
He is the author of “Consumer Directed Health Care-A 360 Degree View” and a frequent speaker on topics related to the future of health care and the research-based biopharmaceutical industry. He also has an extensive background in health care information technology and has worked with electronic prescribing, electronic health records, and health information exchanges across the country.
Before moving into health care policy Kim worked for over ten years in oncology spending time in sales, marketing, and new product development roles. He has experience with both conventional small molecules and biologics used to treat cancer. Over his industry career, Kim has been involved with the marketing or sales of products in nearly every major disease category.
Kim is the Chair Elect of the Board of Trustees for the Texas Health Institute and former member of the Board of Directors for the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society.
CHRIS GOOLEY
Chris Gooley is a world-class statistician with more than 20 years experience applying quantitative techniques to address marketing problems.
He is a former Vice President of Research and New Methods, Olitzkey Whittle and co-founder of Strategic Market Research Group (now Market2Customer). Chris has a B.S. in Applied Mathematics-Economics and an M.S. and ABD in Statistics from Stanford University.
KATHRYN M. BOWSHER
Kathryn M. Bowsher, the Principal of Act One Marketing, is a seasoned strategic marketing executive with a specialty in bringing new products to market. She has over 20 years of experience and a proven track record of bottom line results in both large and small companies. Ms. Bowsher’s extensive background in moving new products from idea through launch includes launching 7 products and working with over 25 development teams. Act One Marketing serves life science companies and investors. Principal services included New Product Opportunity Assessment, Commercialization Strategies for development stage products, and Corporate/Clinical Business Planning. Prior to founding Act One Marketing, Kathryn was VP of Marketing at Somnus Medical Technologies and has directed global marketing and product development strategy for a $725 million drug line at Baxter International. Other clients and employers have included Goldman Sachs & Co., BiPar Sciences, Perlegen, JNJ, Corus Pharma and PhotoThera. Ms. Bowsher holds an MBA from Stanford and an AB from Princeton
JUN HUANGPU PH.D, MBA
Jun Huangpu brings more than 20 years of expertise in applied and basic research in the life sciences to the Healogix team. He brings a breadth of functional experience ranging from R&D, sales, marketing, business development and management consulting. He is an expert at combining strategic insight, practical business acumen and superior analytic skills, providing an exceptional perspective for Healogix clients.
Before joining the Healogix team, he was a Market Research and Business Development Manager with AstraZeneca and Prism Pharmaceuticals, a consultant for portfolio planning, market/product potential assessment, licensing, sales and marketing with IMS and Verispan and a provided field sales for service to pharmaceutical, biotech and academic research with Sigma-Aldrich and Denville Scientific Inc.
Jun earned his MBA from Harvard Business School, a Postdoctoral fellow at Harvard Medical School and a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology.
BECKY FOSTER
Becky Foster has over 10 years of experience working with biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies on managed care, health policy, and reimbursement issues. Before starting her own firm in 2008, she held a variety of roles at Genentech, developing marketing strategies for the payer/employer channel and planning resource efforts for physician practices to ensure patient access to new medical therapies. She has worked on the launches of several successful biotech products including TNKase and the cancer blockbuster Avastin. Becky started her career in the pharmaceutical industry conducting managed care market research for Health Strategies Group, a health care consultancy based in Northern California and New Jersey. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Harvard and a master’s in public health from the University of California at Berkeley
BRUCE S. KOSSAR, PH.D
Bruce S. Kossar, received his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois in Champaign/Urbana under Jagdish N. Sheth and has over 25 years of applied experience conducting primary research and database marketing using advanced analytical techniques. His first position was teaching Marketing at SUNY at Buffalo, but a majority of his career has been on the applied side. Bruce has made numerous conference presentations and authored several journal articles on advanced analytical topics such as Conjoint/Discrete Choice, Latent Class, Modeling Consumer/Physician Decision Making Processes, Targeting Innovative/Early Adopters, and, Sales Forecasting. His professional interest is to develop and implement new research designs, methods, and quantitative procedures in order to facilitate effective marketing strategies.
ABBY L. SHERO
Abby is a marketing research consultant specializing in the design and implementation of marketing research studies for the medical marketplace. Abby’s blend of talents stem from her wide breadth of experience in the medical and marketing research fields. This experience includes market research consulting as well as corporate strategic planning, technology assessments and regulatory / licensing work. Areas of expertise include: organ transplantation, cardiac devices, oncology and a wide breadth of pharmaceuticals in a range of therapeutic classes. Clients benefit from her experience assessing market opportunities, refining product development efforts and developing brand management strategies. Abby works closely with clients to develop marketing research studies that yield key information.
Abby has worked in the marketing research field for 25 years. She has served clients in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical diagnostic markets both as an independent consultant as well as a subcontractor to major marketing research firms. She is a skilled focus group moderator and in-depth interviewer. Her clients consider her analytical skills a valuable asset in their strategic planning efforts.
Abby has prior work experience as a Project Manager for Migliara / Kaplan Associates one of the largest custom market research companies serving the pharmaceutical industry. In addition, she worked as a Business Development Manager for W.R. Grace’s medical products division overseeing product development for artificial organ transplantation, and cancer therapeutics and as a Technology Transfer Advisor to Baylor College of Medicine. Abby earned her M.B.A. from the University of Maryland in 1984. She received her B.A. in English from the State University of New York at Buffalo graduating Magna Cum Laude.
